Dufy Painter


Raoul Dufy - Raoul Dufy (June 3, 1877 – March 23, 1953) was a French Fauvist painter born in Le Havre in Normandy. He developed a colourful, decorative style that became fashionable for designs for ceramics, textiles and decorative schemes for public buildings.

The appellation was given him by classicist John Beazley in 1910, who identified the work of this artist on vases by the potter Kleophrades.

Kleophon Painter - The "Kleophon Painter" is the name given to an anonymous Athenian vase painter in the red figure style who flourished in the mid-to-late 5th century BCE. He is thus named because one of the works attributed to him bears an inscription in praise of a youth named Kleophon.
