Brake (carriage) - A brake, also known as a break, was a type of horse-drawn carriage used in the 19th century. It was an open-topped vehicle designed for country use with four wheels of varying shapes.
Phaeton (carriage) - Phaeton is the fanciful early 19th-century term for a sporty rig drawn by a single horse or a pair, with extravagantly large wheels, very lightly sprung, with a minimal body, fast and dangerous (illustration, right). The rather self-consciously classicizing name refers to the disastrous ride of mythical Phaëton.
Britzka - A britzka or brichka is a type of horse-drawn carriage. It was a long carriage with four wheels, with a folding top over the rear seat and a rear-facing front seat, and was pulled by two horses.
Kalesa - Kalesa (sometimes called a karitela) is a horse-driven carriage used in the Philippines. The word predates the Spanish conquest and descends ultimately from an Old Church Slavonic word meaning "wheels.
